Well Supported Mothers Collective

Education, Collaboration, Advocacy & Innovation in Mothercare

The WSMC is led by its founders and supported by a core operations team, working in consultation with a diverse expert review panel. We deliver platforms that engage a broad network of professionals across clinical, cultural, governance, and community domains. The following characteristics guide the work and relationships of the WSMC and our network of contributors:

  • Extensive Experience and Expertise: Highly experienced clinicians who have dedicated their studies to focus on Women's Health and the specific requirements of the childbearing phase.

  • Global Recognition as Educators: Acknowledged educators, recognised both in Australia and globally for their contributions across the fields of Women's Health, Culture and Community.

  • Leaders in the Field: Positioned at the forefront of their respective fields, serve as industry leaders, consistently advancing knowledge and practices in Women's health.

  • Mother-Centred Philosophy: Consider how to design care that places mothers exactly where they belong: at the centre of their own journey.

  • Integrative and Holistic Approaches: Embracing integrative and holistic methodologies, provide comprehensive care that addresses the multifaceted aspects of Women's Health.

  • Collaborative Models of Care: Operate with collaborative models of care, fostering an environment where practitioners work seamlessly together to optimise patient outcomes.

Education

WSMC aims to develop leading clinical, cultural, and diverse education opportunities. We deliver CPD-accredited online education, host national conferences, and are currently developing the online MotherCentred Global Symposium. We are also expanding our reach through the WSMC Broadcast Channel, where we share timely, thoughtful content and conversations that explore the full spectrum of maternal wellbeing.

Practitioner Training: Certified MotherCentred CareCMCC is a responsive and evolving framework developed to support practitioners working across women’s health. It moves beyond static clinical models by placing women’s lived experiences, social context, and intergenerational health at the centre of care.

Collaboration

WSMC fosters a broad professional community that connects clinicians, practitioners, educators, researchers, and cultural leaders. Through structured collaboration and an active referral and dialogue network we help build meaningful relationships across sectors and improve continuity of care for women. To view our developing network visit the WSMC HUB page. MotherWell is the Well Supported Mothers Collective’s Community Care Initiative, created to foster connection, knowledge exchange, and integrated support across the full continuum of women’s health. Through collaborative efforts between clinician educators, the initiative combines expert foundational education with accessible, real-time clinical care for attending families in a welcoming, community-based setting.

Advocacy

The WSMC seeks to align and support global human rights advocates in Culture, Reproductive Health, Women's Health, Birth and Postpartum. WSMC co-authored the Call to Action: “Postpartum – A Critical Window in Women’s Health” with the Postnatal Support Network (EU). The CTA outlines shared goals for improving postpartum care globally. This document emerged from the international Postnatal rEvolution Summit, and was co-developed with the European Doula Network (EDN) and Geboortenis Zutphen (Netherlands).
